International Islamic Scholars Program
We aim to expose the South African public in general and the ulama in particular to renowned scholars from different parts of the world. Their visits include visiting senior South African scholars, conducting lessons on different topics and delivering public lectures.
We have hosted and facilitated the visits of the following scholars in recent years:
1) In 2014 we hosted Shaykh Adnan Saqqa, Shaykh Dr Salah al-Din al-Idlibi and Shaykh Khalid Kouki all from Syria. The purpose of their visit was to raise some awareness with regard to the plight of the Syrian refugees.
2) Shaykh Dr Muhammad Muti’ al-Hafiz who is a renowned Syrian scholar and specialist on manuscripts and the Syrian scholars. He has authored and edited over 30 books. He visited SA in 2014. He visited Pretoria and during his visit al-Shifa by Qadi Iyad, al-Targhib wa al-Tarhib and al-Ajluniyah were read.
3) Shaykh Dr Idriss al-Fasi al-Fihri who is a Moroccan scholar. He is a lecturer at the prestigious Qarawiyyeen University in Fez, Morocco where he teaches various subjects. He also delivers the jumuah lecture at the Qarawiyyeen Mosque. He has also authored and edited a number of books. He visited SA in 2015 and had a reading at the Primrose Park Masjid in Cape Town during which al-Burdah by Imam al-Busayri, al-Shamail by Imam al-Tirmidhi and Dalail al-Khayrat by Imam al-Jazuli were read.
